Covalent Lithium

HR Business Partner

What they said.

Kassy has made a really positive contribution to the business in a short amount of time. She seamlessly integrated into the HR team and the broader organisation to deliver key HR Business Partnering deliverables. From the outset, she built strong connections with leaders and the team through her positive, vibrant and approachable style. Kassy brings a practical, people-focused approach to her work and has a great ability to understand what stakeholders need and translate that into action. She has consistently followed through on commitments and delivered what was required, while remaining responsive and supportive along the way. Her energy, willingness to get involved and genuine commitment to helping others have made her a valued member of the team, and we appreciated the contribution she was able to make through her engagement with us.

The Need

Covalent Lithium needed experienced HR Business Partner support to provide full coverage while its permanent HRBP was on annual leave. With limited time available for handover, Covalent Lithium needed someone who could quickly step into the role, confidently navigate the full HR function and keep day-to-day people matters moving without disruption.

The Solution

Zest Senior People Specialist Kassy Taylor Burch stepped into the HRBP role for seven weeks, providing dedicated support across Covalent Lithium’s Corporate Services and Engineering teams.

Working as an extension of the People & Culture team, Kassy provided generalist HR support across:

  • Employee relations and day-to-day HR advice
  • Recruitment support
  • Policy review and guidance
  • People matters across the Corporate Services and Engineering portfolios
  • Development of an HR Capability Framework for the People & Culture team

The flexible arrangement gave Covalent access to experienced HR capability when it was needed, without disrupting business-as-usual support.

Highlights

Kassy quickly integrated into the Covalent Lithium team, building strong relationships with both the People & Culture team and key stakeholders across the business.

The seven-week engagement provided seamless, full-scope HRBP coverage across the assigned portfolio, maintaining continuity and ensuring employees and leaders continued to have access to experienced HR support throughout the permanent HRBP’s absence.

Challenges

Wins

The engagement built strong relationships and trust between Zest and Covalent Lithium, leading to further opportunities to support the organisation.

Following the initial HRBP engagement, Zest was engaged to provide additional strategic people support, including a DEI Strategy Review and a First Nations Employment Readiness Plan.
