Mission Goals

UDIA WA engaged Zest to deliver a comprehensive legislative compliance review for HR related policies and contracts. Their goals were:

  • To ensure all employment contracts and policies complied with the latest laws, including the Secure Jobs, Better Pay Act and current Fair Work Commission regulations.
  • To modernise and streamline documentation, improving clarity and consistency across standard and executive roles.
  • To reduce compliance and administrative risk while aligning HR documentation with industry best-practice standards.

The Solution

Zest delivered a full overhaul of UDIA’s employment framework. Our approach included:

  • Creating compliant, best-practice contracts for both standard and executive employees.
  • Developing standardised, easy-to-use templates for Letters of Offer and Terms & Conditions.
  • Reviewing and updating all existing policy documents to reflect current legislation and modern HR standards.
  • Producing a detailed change tracker to provide full visibility of every amendment and the rationale behind it.
  • Professionally formatting all documents in a clean, brand-consistent layout for simple use and readability.

The new documentation suite provides UDIA with a robust, future-ready foundation for employment governance — designed to evolve as legislation changes.

Highlights

  • Delivered ahead of schedule, with all milestones met well in advance of the deadline.
  • Highly collaborative process: regular progress updates, feedback loops and strong communication ensured smooth delivery.
  • Outcome designed for adaptability: contracts and policies are future-proofed for legislative change.

Challenges

Although the project proceeded smoothly, one key complexity involved re-structuring certain policies. As legislation evolved and readability became a priority, some broad policy documents had to be broken into multiple, more focused documents. This required careful design to maintain consistency while improving clarity — but ultimately resulted in a more intuitive and accessible policy framework.

Wins

  • 100% Compliance: All contracts and policies now meet or exceed the requirements of current legislation.
  • Clarity & Simplicity: Complex legal language translated into clear, user-friendly documents, streamlining HR processes.
  • Faster Than Expected: The project was completed earlier than planned, allowing UDIA to redirect internal resources without delay.
